MRCGP [INT] examination

The MRCGP [INT] is world renowned and recognised postgraduate medical diploma which is conducted by the RCGP. It is designed for who reside outside the UK. Previously many doctors have shown an interest in sitting the UK based MRCGP examinations (including the CSA and AKT). However, these examinations have been tailored towards UK patients and pathways and as a result non-UK based doctors would have to overcome additional, occasionally, unsurmountable hurdles in order to pass them. As a result a new examination called the MRCGP [INT] was born, an internationally recognised postgraduate diploma for family medicine (family consultants) that was equal in status to hospital-basd speciality qualifications. They are equally robust to their UK equivalent but permit some degree of flexibility to recognise local variation of clinical practice, nuances to culture and language found in different countries. The creation of the MRCGP [INT] has permitted the standardisation of care for primary care / family medicine.

After successfully completing the year long course after getting your MRCGP international exam results, candidates are awarded the RCGP accredited MRCGP [INT] award along with a local qualification which are considered on the same professional standard as the UK MRCGP exams.

MRCGP international modular transfer

One must take into account that the MRCGP [INT] has been designed for their location and may not be relevant for practice outside that area or country. Individual modules or assessments are not transferrable from one accredited examination to another centre.

MRCGP international eligibility

MRCGP [INT] international exam eligibility vary from centre and country. In principle, the MRCGP International requires:

MRCGP [INT] international results

MRCGP [INT] international results may be emailed to you or posted on the MRCGP [INT] website. Below are the results from the 2014 MRCGP international exams for South Asia

Can having the MRCGP [INT] international permit me to work in the UK?

Unfortunately having the MRCGP [INT] does not automatically qualify you the right to work as an independent GP in the United Kingdom. Since the MRCGP [INT] has been created and designed for the needs of the local population it would not be recognised as the postgraduate exit assessment needed to practice in the UK.

If you qualified from outside the United Kingdom as well as the European Union and wish to work in the UK as a GP you would need to apply via the GMC
